Gambling Statistics and Reports

Montana has more than 1,600 licensed gambling operators and locations that offer more than 18,000 video gambling machines to the public. There are legal gambling establishments in every county in the state.

Biennial Reports

The Gambling Control Division publishes a biennial report that provides comprehensive statistics on gambling in Montana and summarizes the division's activities. The appendices include charts showing the taxes collected and the number of video gambling machines by city and county. Biennial reports are available for fiscal years.

Gambling Statistics

The division maintains statistics on:

• the number of permits it issues for video gambling machines, live card tables, and live bingo and keno
• the number of licenses it issues to video gambling machine manufacturers and distributors, and to card dealers
• the taxes it collects on revenues generated by video gambling machines, live card games, live bingo and keno, and sports tabs

Video Gambling Machine Tax Collections

The division keeps quarterly statistics on video gambling machine tax collections by county and city. Since April 2001, all video gambling machine gross income tax is deposited in the general fund and distributed as a part of state revenue sharing with local governments.

Reports

The Gambling Control Division maintains lists of all licensed gambling businesses and machines active in Montana.

Under 2-6-109 of the Montana Code Annotated, the lists contained in the following reports must not be used as mailing lists. Using this information as a mailing list constitutes a criminal misdemeanor.
