Pending Grant Applications

In April 2008, the Natural Resource Damage Program received 14 project applications requesting a total of $21,865,669. In addition, two applications for grants of $25,000 or less were submitted. Summaries of the applications are listed in the tables below and full copies are available from NRDP at 444-0229 or nrdp@mt.gov.

Greenway Service District

Silver Bow Creek Greenway
Plan, design and construct restoration and access improvements within the Silver Bow Creek corridor concurrent with remedial work to be conducted during 2009:
  • Miles Crossing area stream realignment activities including additional channel restoration and floodplain grading.
  • Access feature development in Sub-area 3 and Reaches P, Q and R of Sub-area 4.

Vanisko Ranch Conservation Easement
Purchase a 7,140 acre conservation easement on the Vanisko Ranch 7 miles southeast of Deer Lodge. In addition, purchase two U.S. Forest Service in-holdings:
  • 64.23 acre located on Orofino Creek
  • 121.94 acre on Racetrack Creek
These purchases would then be traded to the USFS for federal lands adjacent to the Lost Creek Management Area.

Provide instruction to "citizen scientists" to monitor reproductive progress of Osprey families along the Clark Fork River between Warm Springs Ponds and Milltown Reservoir. In addition, blood and feather data will be collected from Osprey chicks. NRDP $24,999.64
